Taurians….

Lent is a time for many devotions: the Way of the Cross, visita iglesia, pasyon, processions, etc. They help us recall the Lord’s saving sacrifice for us. Let us allow our devotions to nurture in us an attitude of devotion, to dedicate our time and talent to good work, and pursue whatever is holy.

‘Neither do I condemn you, go away and don’t sin again.’ (Jn 8:11)
Jesus’ words to the adulterous woman who are the very words we ourselves need to hear. The Lord does not push us away or exclude us. He picks us up and repairs our broken spirit.
Do you have  the same attitude toward those who have wronged you?

March 9, 2008-Jesus brings Lazarus back to life, who has been dead and buried for days. We are reminded today that Jesus’ death has no power. It is not the last word. Look within you and see if there’s anything lifeless or dying. Bring it to the Lord. He who is the Resurrection and the Life wants to awaken and restore you.

March 8, 2008 - When the fire in your heart is dying and all you see is a wisp of smoke, all is not lost. You can still do something. ‘Blow the coal of your heart.’ (Henry Nouwen) Prayer fans whatever little flare that remains in us. Everyday good works - even if they entail much effort - help bring back the flame.

St Perpetua and Felicity were martyrs who were
mothers. Not even torture and death could make them give up their
faith. These two mothers teach us an important lesson. We gain much
when we know how to give up. We become more of God when we think less
of ourselves. Let’s especially pray for our mothers.

God shows Abraham the stars in the sky and promises him his descendants will be as many. When you look up at the evening sky and see its many stars be reminded of God’s gracious promise. He gives in abundance. He showers with gifts your fingers cannot count. Have you shown your gratitude to God?
 

‘For life’ - Jesus was always that. He spoke against unreasonable rules that made life difficult for people. he comforted and healed those sick and  suffering. He gave bread to the hungry and calmed those afraid. Do your words and actions build and lift up people? Do they give life to those without it?

March 3, 2008-Katherine Drexel didn’t have to to work. She was heiress to her family’s big fortune. But work she did, even spending her inheritance to build homes and schools for Negros and native  Indians. It began with a simple wish to help the least in her community. And it helped St. Katherine to find her real treasure!

Just after Jesus says ‘I am the Light of the World’, he heals the man born blind man. The Lord who is Light offers to heal our many forms of blindness and restore our sight. We set our eyes on things that we think can dispel our life’s darkness. But we can truly see only with our eyes fixed on Jesus.

March 01-The self-righteous Pharisee regards himself so highly that he does not see any fault in himself. But the humble tax collector honestly admits his own mistakes and his need for God’s mercy. 
Which attitude do you bring to prayer and your daily life? We can only change if we see and accept our need to change.
