Listen to HIM

Filed under: gospel — joycedanao at 1:49 am on Friday, May 30, 2008

Joyoz1jana It’s the end of the week and it’s almost of the month. Stop a while. Be aware of what has made your life heavy these days. Unload to the Lord all these burdens you have. Listen to Him as He gently tells you: ‘Come to me all you who work hard and carry heavy burdens and I will refresh you..you will find rest.’

May 29,’08 - Bartimaeus is both blind and beggar. He does not see and he does not own anything. In the darkness that surrounds him, he is utterly dependent on others. That is why when he pleads for mercy, he shouts! He knows how it is to be in deep need. Sit beside Bartimaeuse today and learn from his faith.

May 28,’08 - Serving others doesn’t always promise happiness. It can test our patience. It can be frustrating sometimes. When this happens, think of the Lord ‘who has not come to be served but to serve and to give his life to redeem many.’ (Mk 10:45) Let his goal be ours: our neighbor’s needs first and ours, last.

May 27,’08 - ‘Do pay attention: Many who now are first will be last and the last, first.’ (Mk 10:31) The painting ‘Hapag Kainan’ where Jesus surrounds himself with hungry streetkids at a table shows who His heart goes out for. The lowliest and the least are His friends. How different are His standards from ours!

May 20,’08 - We dream of becoming the best. We desire only the greatest. But the Kingdom puts premium on the smallest and the least. ‘If someone wants to be first, let him be last of all.’ (Mk 9:35) How many are you living out this special preference for the least and lowliest in your life right now?

May 19 -’08 - A boy tormented by a bad spirit. His father is distressed. The crowd is unsettled. In this air of restlessness, Jesus tells them to bring the boy to Him. The boy is healed and stands up again. When many things upset us or get out of hand, let us bring them to Jesus. He will help us get on our feet.

Trinity Sunday

5carlota_entryThe Father, Son, and Holy Spirit are three distinct Persons in one God. Three but always One. Distinct yet always together. Always co-existing as equals. Our call as Christians is to be one and together amid our difference and diversity. Only in this way can we be persons living in God’s  image and likeness.

May 17, ‘08 - The 3 disciples go up the mountain with Jesus and witness His Transfiguration. But He leads them down the mountain shortly after the event. The 3 experience a ‘high’ that they even wish to stay put. But Jesus brings them to the ground.
Living in the everyday world is the true test of our faith.

May 15, ‘08 - Jesus prays to the Father: ‘All things that are Mine are Yours and Yours are mine. ‘Jn 17:10) Jesus shares this oneness with the Father. The Father’s dreams and hopes are His very own. This intimate relationship comes from deep prayer. Jesus knows the mind and heart of the Father because He constantly prays.

May 14, ‘08 - Our whole lives are an invitation to remain in God’s love. But often we stay away, thinking we’re great sinners to receive His love. Or we stray believing we can find this love in created things. The farther we go, the more we feel the distance within us. Jesus calls us his friends and tells us: Come!

May 13, ‘08 - The miracle of Fatima continues to this day. Thousands of people walk on their knees in the shrine, praying earnestly, begging for healing of the body and soul. It’s the 3 young children who are entrusted the message. A reminder to all to reclaim our being children, by being God’s children and His alone.

3twinks_entry_1May 11, ‘08 - The disciples are gathered in one house when a rushing wind comes and tongues of fire rest above their heads. it is the Holy Spirit, touching their doubts and fears, filling them with courage and zeal. It’s the same Spirit who inspires them to risk their lives for the Lord.
We pray then: Come Holy Spirit!

May 10, ‘08 - Fr. Damien voluntred to serve the lepr island of Molokai. He knew he could turn into a leper himself but he served night and day even when he caught the disease.
Fr. Damien teaches us loving with all our hearts ans soul. Pray for us, Bl. Damien! Join the the online recollection 8pm tonite at www.jesuit.ph

May 9, ‘08 - The Lord call us to look after his lambs. It can be a daunting task, considerring the flock is large and the pastures everywhere. But it helpsĀ  to recall we are lambs ourselves, and that He has gathered, sought and carried us home. We have heard the Shepherd’s voice and known His heart!

May 8, ‘08 - After a long drive it helps to make a stop, even a short one. Not only to refuel but also to stretch out and unpack, make sense of the road taken and the road ahead to see how we are moving or what has been moving us.

May 7, ‘07- We always want to feel a sense of belongingness. yet there are times we find ourselves not belonging and our hearts discontented. We hope forĀ  more than what we see and hold. We have to listen to this inner pulse. God may be inviting us to desire Him more and to find in Him our deepest connections.

Welcoming Month of May

Filed under: reflections and inspirations — joycedanao at 6:45 pm on Tuesday, May 6, 2008

Joybday_1 What are the most important things in your life?
Quietly mention them in your heart. Or jot them down on a piece of paper. When we examine what we hold most dear in our hearts we are led to the truth - they are not things but people. Lord, teach me to truly value the people in my life. Amen

May 4, 08′ - Today is Ascension Sunday. Jesus goes back to the Father and sits at His right hand. But He doesn’t leave us orphaned. He promises us the abiding presence of the Spirit who will keep us from falling and stumbling away. It is this Spirit who will accompany and guide us as we find our way to the Father.

May 3, 08′ - After all this time in the company of Jesus, Philip still has not understood Jesus. But the good thing about Philip is that he doesn’t hesitate to plead with Jesus and reveal his confusion. He seeks Him out and Jesus shows him the way. We can always come to the Lord when we need to be enlightened.

May 2, 08′ - It seems at times that we take our faith more seriously only when we encounter hardships. We see that good and innocent people are not spared from suffering. The Lord hanging on the cross quietly, lovingly reminds us: ‘I too am suffering as you suffer. I AM WITH YOU as you endure your pain.’
